According to data from the Indonesian Textile Association, the export value of Indonesian textiles is estimated to reach IDR 444 trillion in 2025 with a target of exporting 96,000 tons of viscose rayon to Turkey, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The manufacture of viscose rayon has proven to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. APR has received Sustainable Textile Production (SteP) certification by OEKO-TEX from Switzerland. This certification is a strict calculation of the chemicals, environmental performance, and all aspects of the working methods used.

The Best of Viscose Rayon

Typical of viscose rayon is its lustrous material and can be made into a cheap version of silk. Viscose rayon is produced from plant fibers and regenerated cellulose. Cellulose is a carbohydrate and a major component in plant walls, then the cellulose material is dissolved in a chemical solution and produces a viscous substance, which becomes yarn fibers. Muslim fashion made from viscose rayon was introduced at the Muslim Fashion Festival (Muffest) in 2019. This event was a stepping stone in introducing Muslim fashion made from viscose rayon from Indonesian designers. The event was organized by the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC) in order to introduce Indonesian Muslim fashion. APR also contributed to the event by presenting an exclusive fashion show with the theme “Future is Naturally Sustainable Fiber.”

The event featured 64 viscose rayon fashion designs from Indonesian designers. Designers display their uniqueness and distinction, namely trend forecasting with the theme “Singularity.” Audrey, as a designer, has a distinctive avant-grade, contemporary style. Besides the fashion show, Muffest 2019 is holding a styling competition for young designers with viscose rayon raw material.

Balinese Indonesian Fashion from Viscose Rayon

Fashion made of viscose rayon was displayed very nicely at the Bali Fashion Trend Spring Summer 2020. The fashion ideas shown are not only environmentally friendly but also have elements of Indonesian ethnicity. The fashion lineup at the event included wrap skirts, jumpsuits, tailored pants, and more. The materials used are 100% biodegradable and manufactured by APR.

Bali Fashion Trend 2020 is a form of collaboration between APR and well-known designers such as Sav Lavin and Eny Ming. The theme of the event is “We Love Earth” which represents the main ingredient of the fashion collection. Sav Lavin takes the streetwear theme by following global trends and is combined with tie-dye motifs, a Balinese characteristic. The jumputan technique is designed to be finished with a contemporary silhouette. The tie-dye motif that has recently been loved by young people makes viscose rayon the main material that is very suitable for tie-dye clothes, plus the cool material.

Fashion collections show that viscose rayon can be combined with other materials such as polyester, cotton, and others. Bali Fashion Trend creates a combination of creative industries. The application of environmentally friendly raw materials, Balinese fashion, and patterns keep it modern but still holding the traditions.

Viscose Rayon for Daily Fashion

Fashion experiences the times and collaborates with the creativity of Indonesian young talents. Jakarta Fashion Hub (JFH) held a fashion show with the theme “Lounge ‘n Leisure” and featuring 6 collections of apparel. Fashion shows are held virtually but still attractive with the concept of “See Now Buy Now.” The fashion collection used viscose rayon as raw material and cooperated with APR as its main supplier.

The collection that is presented has a fashionable and stylish impression, suitable for everyday wear and as a traveling outfit. For instance, designer Diby Hody with the title Saisei, using viscose rayon and models inspired from East Asia. The design seems modern and implies comfort but still attractive.

Another JFH fashion collection is the day dress, with a female nuanced nightgown concept. This shirt is also intended for clothing for pregnant and lactating women. The concept is light but still elegant in everyday use. Balinese-style day dresses are the prima donna in this fashion.
